Launch of 2017 Excellence in Risk Management Awards

Nominations are now open for the second Excellence in Risk Management Awards. These four awards are exclusive to members of FERMA associations:

  • Risk Manager of the Year
  • Lifetime Achievement
  • Rising Star
  • Innovative Insurance Programme of the Year

The deadline for entries is 28 July.

The 2nd European Risk Management Awards programme will take place in London on 6 November 2017. FERMA supports the awards, made in cooperation with Commercial Risk Europe, to raise the profile of the contribution made by the risk and insurance community to the success of European organisations.

Michaël Dehert, winner of the 2016 Innovative Insurance Programme award, saw his programme tested severely on 22 March 2016 when terrorists attacked Brussels Airport. As Michaël says: “You only get to know the true meaning of policy wording, (sub-) limits and coverage during the handling of such a catastrophic claim.” Read more about his experience.

The winners of the Excellence in Customer Services categories, as well as the Excellence in Risk Management and Industry Leadership designations that make up the European Risk Management Awards, will be announced at a gala dinner on 6 December at Le Plaza Hotel in Brussels

We are delighted by the number of nominations we have received from across Europe and would like to thank all our national member associations that helped us compile such a high calibre list of candidates

The great response to the awards, suggests that the whole risk management and transfer industry supports our aim of raising the profile of the risk profession and highlighting the value FERMA members bring. The fact that the industry has embraced the event bodes well for the future of the risk and insurance management profession, as well as the partnerships needed with risk transfer providers to deliver better solutions.

Ferma and CRE hope to see many of you there for what will be a fun and important night in the risk management calendar.

Commercial Risk Europe – Risk Frontiers Survey 2012

This year’s Risk Frontiers survey of European risk managers, sponsored by XL and Willis, took place as European companies grappled with big and fast developing political, social and economic changes such as the eurozone crisis, ongoing dramatic effects of the Arab Spring and the spectre of a ‘double dip’ European and global downturn. It was no surprise therefore that this year, more than in the past, the discussion was very macro-focused.

In this survey we shed light on those macro issues and other big risks keeping risk professionals awake at night, discuss the role risk managers should play to help their organisations navigate such choppy waters and consider to what extent the insurance market is responding and delivering on innovation. We also take an indepth look at the state of the corporate insurance market and the challenges raised by globalisation and multinational insurance programmes. Continue reading
